LUKE SANFORD
Pianist/singer Luke Sandford was born in London, UK but grew up in the Cowichan Valley (Vancouver Island), where he studied classical music with Martha Reuter and played in the rock band Lazy Spirit (1981-1984). Upon moving to Vancouver, he joined reggae band Frank Carroll & Hit Squad (1984-1985) and began performing in local restaurants.
Over the past three decades, Luke has played professionally in Vancouver, Victoria, Montreal, Barcelona, Berlin, London and New York, where he performed in the piano bars for many years. His debut recording, "Shimmer", was released in 2000, followed by "Echoes" in 2010. His more recent original releases, "Lukejazz" and "Lukerock", were recorded during lockdown in 2020-2021 and feature contributions by leading session musicians from New York, London, Barcelona and Tel Aviv.
Luke is known for his wide-ranging blend of pop, rock, blues, country, jazz standards and Broadway show tunes. His music and videos are available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services.
