Comprised of experienced musicians from the Vancouver-area music scene, Gift Shop commands the stage with confidence, making their passion for The Hip’s music obvious at every show. Lead vocalist Ian McDonnell delivers powerful vocals and a unique stage presence, channeling his inner Gord Downie while maintaining his own identity. Alan Cragg (lead guitar/special effects) brings the soaring guitar parts of Rob Baker to life with technical precision and creativity. In addition to capturing Baker’s tone and energy, Alan is responsible for the ambient textures, keyboard parts, and special effects that set Gift Shop apart from other Hip tributes.

On rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Craig Rogers holds down the harmonic foundation and is dedicated to accurately replicating Paul Langlois’ parts. His deep knowledge of The Hip’s catalogue shines through in every performance. Craig A. Brown takes on the melodic, driving bass lines made famous by Gord Sinclair, always attending to the smallest details that elevate the band’s sound. Finally, Cory Davis powers the band from behind the drum kit, locking into grooves with the same energy and finesse that Johnny Fay brought to The Hip. His keen memory for arrangements and commitment to the right “feel” allow Gift Shop to maintain a vast and ever-growing setlist of Hip classics and deep cuts.
