Nelson Boschman is a Canadian-born, Vancouver-based pianist, composer, arranger, and bandleader.

Nelson has been performing jazz, pop, and folk piano throughout Greater Vancouver since 1995. His group, the Nelson Boschman Trio, was formed while in the Jazz Studies Program at Capilano College and has played at many restaurants, weddings, corporate events, benefits, and Jazz Vespers services. The group's creative, interactive, straight-ahead style is influenced by the piano trios led by Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau, and appeals to a wide audience.

Boschman has two recordings with his trio, plus guests: KEEPING TIME, Vols. 01 and 02 (2004, 2007). As part of the quintet Mennonite Jazz Committee, his tasteful playing and arranging is featured on two additional albums, including DAWN OF GRACE, a collection of holiday favourites from 2007.

Nelson is currently enjoying more solo piano work in Vancouver, in various restaurant and lounge settings: Bacchus Lounge at Wedgewood Hotel, Notch8 at Hotel Vancouver, Jetside Lounge at Fairmont Vancouver Airport, Oceans 999 at the Pan Pacific, Terminal City Club, and Vancouver Club.

Nelson’s background in jazz and pop infuses all his performances, whether solo, duo, or trio. His repertoire features chill, vibey, nostalgic pop covers from the 60s ‘til now—by artists from The Beatles to Lady Gaga, and Michael Jackson to Miley Cyrus—plus jazz standards popularized by everyone from Duke Ellington to Ella Fitzgerald to Herbie Hancock.

Vancouver jazz great Brad Turner has the following to say about Boschman’s playing:

Nelson Boschman is a pianist of taste and refinement. Not one to waste notes, his solos are thoughtful, and beautifully crafted. His “Keeping Time” recordings display his considerable talents as a composer and arranger, and the performances by all musicians involved are top-notch.
