Nick Gee and Justin Brown initially developed a distinctive R&B-folk style when they started co-writing in 2016. One of their earliest collaborations "Stay My Love" made it to the finals of the CBC Searchlight Competition. Honing lyrics and melodies, they would alternate meet-ups at Justin's home studio in East Vancouver and Nick's apartment in Ladner.

 

One Halloween Evening, backed by a full rock band, they played their first gig together. The energetic performance got a great response, but stylistically, it still left them..... searching.

 

From that night on, the standard rock band setup - drum-kit, bass, electric guitars and

keyboard - would slowly down-size to a more natural foundation, with Nick singing and strumming, and Justin on lead guitar, with the occasional vocal harmony. Ultimately, the search ended in 2021 with the addition of multi-percussionist Jarrett Plett, fulfilling their signature live acoustic sound.
