JON ROPER

Guitarist Jon Roper continues to be one of Vancouver's most versatile musicians. His original projects include the hard rocking Friction Project, blues band The Lift and the indie-funk instrumental trio Ribcage. He performs regularly with Buckman Coe, The Bluesberries, Dr Strangelove, Alita Dupray, Alan Matheson, Pandora and the Locksmiths and a host of other jazz, blues, rock and world musicians.

His solo vocal performances cover songs from the 1960’s to modern day. Jon adds rhythmic and melodic elements using a looper pedal to thicken up the sound when needed. He also has large repertoire of solo jazz and classical guitar for many different types of functions.

Jon admits to feeling equally at peace performing anything from early jazz to progressive rock. He has been teaching private and ensemble lessons since 1993 and has taught at Prussin Music, Long and Mcquade and Walnut Grove School of Music and Dance.
