NICOLE SUMERLYN

Powered by endless energy, a lifelong gift for musical expression, and an unabashed love of performing, Nicole Sumerlyn has been engaging audiences in Western Canada for six years with a traditional country sound blended with a rock edge.

Originally from Abbotsford, British Columbia, Nicole embraced music and performance at an early age. By the age of 4, she was already doing her own choreographed “shows” for her family and she grew up listening to an array of country, rock, pop, and blues classics with a special appreciation for Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, and Willie Nelson. She added to her artistic upbringing with community theatre, fine arts classes, and over 10 years of competitive dancing.

Taking modern inspiration from Gretchen Wilson and Miranda Lambert, Nicole focused her artistic energy exclusively on music and songwriting during her high school years with exciting results. In 2012, she made the Top 3 of the Vancouver Island Music Business Conference Song Race, receiving Canadian country radio airplay for the song “I’ll Find You”, co-written with Jesse Mast and Doug Folkins. After a Nashville trip in which she played at the legendary Commodore Grill and The Bluebird Café, she was named one of the 2015 Global Country Star Search winners and released her first iTunes single and music video, “Let’s Get Country”, which aired on The Heartland Network in the United States.

Since then, Nicole Sumerlyn has refined her stage presence at a multitude of venues through increased audience interaction and an inclusive style that reaches across genres. As a result, she has come into her own as a sassy, striking, and sought-after live act that demands attention. After finishing as a Top 4 finalist in the 2017 Breakthrough Country Music Project, she performed live shows at the Calgary Stampede, Sunfest, the BCCMA Awards Weekend.

Moving forward, Nicole plans to return to Nashville for more songwriting and follow it up with the release of her debut EP and a Canadian radio and show tour.
